The old doors

From a distance the old doors don’t look too bad. Up close they appear to be held together with paint and are thoroughly corroded at the bottom, still could be good for off-road use so they move the sell pile, after removing the handles and hinges of course. Continue reading The old doors

Stripping the old tub

The rear tub on the car also has the cut arches, and a lot of rust underneath. Some parts on it can be reused though, like the chains, light covers, number plate and tailgate. Continue reading Stripping the old tub

Taking the body apart

Before work could commence building the new car, the old one had to be stripped of all its parts and fixtures to see what could be reused and what needed to be sold/scrapped. The Engine

The project car came with a 200tdi from a discovery sat in the rear tub. It was sold as running and as luck would have it it started on the first try, sounded great and didn’t give off much smoke. Continue reading The Engine

Sanding panels

Removing front lights

The replacement wings came with the lights and indicators in, which needed removing for paint. Removal showed a bit of corrosion behind the indicators but nothing substantial. Continue reading Removing front lights
